Wasserhund Brewing Co. Review

    Wasserhund Brewing Co. Review

Why not read in a brewery that gives back to the community, too?영월출장마사지

    Location: Virginia Beach, VA

    Beer: Oktoberfest

    ABV: 6:3%

I was reading The Fellowship one afternoon when I was suddenly hit with an insatiable itch to read somewhere other than in the comfort of my own home. Weird isn’t it? I’ve always had these bursts of energy to go out and read or write in coffee shops but never in breweries, so I thought, why not go down the road to the closest brewery?

Fair warning, I came here with the intentions of grabbing a beer and reading, so this might not be your typical brewery review. The idea of pairing my book reviews to different brews (including coffees) and possibly turning those into a 2-in-1 review of current book and brew didn’t come to me until I had my first sip while reading Book 1 Chapter 10 of The Fellowship.영주출장마사지

Wasserhund, meaning water dog in German, is located on Laskin Road, which is one I try to avoid because of the service roads. I think they’re not as useful as they were thought out to be and coming from a different state, I had no idea what was going on driving through that road when we moved in the area!

The first time I’ve been to Wasserhund, I almost missed it since it’s not really facing the road, but more so the parking lot. It’s next to a bike shop which you can see from the main road.

I walked in on a Monday afternoon, so the place was not packed at all. The inside is roomy. There’s a long bench along the back wall with throw pillows and they also have an outdoor patio and seating. The tables are mostly high tops with metal bar stools, but they do have a few low tables by the window. There are German words with English translations over the bar, surfboard light fixtures, and a bottle cap bar top to bring out the place’s personality.영천출장마사지

I made my way to the bar and decided to sit there instead of occupying a table. Their food and beer menu items are either beach-themed or named after dogs and their logo is of a German Shepherd. I might be a little biased considering I’m a sucker for all things dogs and beaches, but this is a plus.

I got myself situated first and then took my time looking at the menu. I decided to go with their Oktoberfest and a small pepperoni pizza because a girl’s gotta eat and The Hobbits eating at least seven meals a day has got me thinking that maybe I should start living like a Hobbit.오산출장마사지

Wasserhund’s Oktoberfest has a 6.3% ABV. They didn’t have it on tap so mine was poured from a can. It tasted a little sweet and malty but also had a crisp finish. This light-bodied pour made me think of Bilbo’s grand party, all the drinking, celebrating and the fireworks show courtesy of Gandalf. I’m not a beer connoisseur (YET) and my love for beer usually ranges from what do you have in your fridge to let’s go try new beers, get drunk and have fun, but I think this was a classic, golden-orange looking beer that paired well with my current read.

They typically have a wide variety of beers on tap and I would normally grab a full flight (they serve theirs on a tray shaped like a German Shepherd’s head. Another point for Wasserhund!) but considering the circumstances, I was content with just my one glass that I babysat while I devoured more of LOTR and my pepperoni pizza, which by the way, was delicious. It came to me hot and fresh, the crust was light and buttery, the pizza had just the right amount of grease and the cheese melted in your mouth.

Lastly, I want to mention that Wasserhund believes in supporting and giving back to the community. Every week they donate a portion of their revenue to a customer-chosen cause. They also host different local charities every Tuesday and donate 30% of their taproom revenue to the evening’s local charity. What a great way to promote local charities!용인출장마사지
